Direct Current Electricity Generation from Dynamic Polarized Water–Semiconductor Interface

Liquid electricity generator and hydrovoltaic technology have received numerous attentions, which can be divided into horizontal movement vertical generator. The is limited for powering the integrated miniaturized energy chip as current output direction depending on moving of water droplet, means a sustainable continuous direct-current (DC) hardly achieved because film length. On other hand, existing generators include triboelectricity or humidity gradient-based liquid generator, where resource must sustainably supplied to ensure output. Herein, we designed an integratable by sandwiching droplets with semiconductor metal, such graphene aluminum. This named polarized molecular (PLMG), directly converts lateral kinetic droplet DC voltage up ~1.0 V from dynamic water-semiconductor interface. fundamental discovery PLMG related non-symmetric structure molecules, alcohols, under guidance built-in field caused Fermi level difference between metal semiconductor, while symmetric molecules cannot produce any opposite. Integratable large power ~90 nW ~2.7 has been demonstrated, meanwhile its small internal resistance ~250 kilohm takes huge advantage in matching impedance electron components. shows potential application value Internet Things (IoTs) after proper miniaturization integration.
